In my last blog post I said I would tell you about some of the cats I’ve had the pleasure of offering Reiki to. Every time I have a Reiki session with a cat I always seem to learn things, cats are great Reiki teachers.
When you first attune to Reiki you often wonder if it’s working or helping, it’s all about confidence and believing. The joy of animal Reiki is that the animal never questions what you are offering; they simply accept that you or Reiki is helping them.
One of my first feline Reiki clients was Bobo; she lived with a friend of mine and was a senior and very wise. I used to offer her Reiki every time I visited my friend and she was a real Reiki junkie! She would get onto my lap and let me give her hands on healing. Bobo was like a sponge sucking up the energy and she would move her body so I could touch other areas of her body. She was telling me where to place my hands and wow did my hands buzz with the energy. Right up until the day Bobo passed away she would allow me to offer her Reiki. She was my first feline Reiki teacher and I miss her.
I have recently started offering Reiki to a very special cat foster home. I call it Penny’s Place. Penny often has many cats that need homes and many of them are very timid and these cats need help because a timid cat is hard to rehome. One such cat called Dale was so scared to come out and say hello and would only eat when he was alone. I visited Dale one morning and offered him some Reiki; I sat away from his pen and just sat with my hands on my lap and let the Reiki do its thing. After about 15 minutes Dale came nearer to the pen door and watched me, he then flopped down and fell into a deep sleep. After some time Dale moved away and I got a feeling he had had enough so I left him alone. That evening Penny told me Dale was much more relaxed and came out to see her and let her touch him. I have been back to offer him more Reiki since and hopefully he will have a new home soon.
So two different Reiki sessions with Bobo and Dale, one hands on and the other hands off. Bobo needed the Reiki for more physical healing and Dale needed healing for emotional issues. xxx
